Hello! Yes, you'll always have to download the latest version of the game from itch.io whenever it comes out. Just delete the old one and replace it with the newer version!

I'd like to type out a very wordy review of how this is exceptionally good for being able to pay anything you like or even just in general and the characters are yes and the 18+ scene is chefs kiss but I don't think I can stop scrolling through random facts about Ren on Tumblr for long enough to do so.
Hopefully this will make do: I bought it because I really like horror despite not being a fan of Yandere characters at all. Fully expected that I'd have a fun time creeping myself out and that I'd stay far away from the NSFW scene. Whoops turns out the Yandere guy is great and made me discover that I have a praise kink.
You could not have paid me enough money to even pretend to believe that would happen when I downloaded the game.

Edit: After reading some more comments, I wanted to add that I personally liked the (percived) personality of MC. ItĀ“s more in line with my own and therefore felt more natural for me than the usuall "IĀ“m a adorable cute slice of toast" or "Ima girlboss bisch baby, plz rescue me nevertheless now" type of (fem)MC (-male MC are slightly better but as AFAB NB I hardly find any good rep lol).
I also really apprecciated that the choices gave me options to play more pragmatic (e.g. nope away from the creep) but also made sure to let me climb on every red flag pole I could find. Sure, Ren is indisputably weird, even creepy and no one in their right mind would just invite someone so noticable unhinged in their home BUT
a) I actually did most of that stuff in real life (although ofc not with so obvious obsessive stalker guys - that said, please take care of yourselfs and donĀ“t be a careless dum-dum like me.) so it didnĀ“t feel too unnatural or out there for me and
b) I highly enjoy when games just let me make glaringly bad decisions AND let me see where it could lead to. ThatĀ“s half of the fun in these type of games: to make the wrong decisions in a save enviroment and see what will happen. And by that I mean, let me play out the scenario (like in this game) and donĀ“t just kill MC off within three sentences after making a "bad" decision (like in so many other games, IF you even get an option for a "bad" decision at all).
I can somewhat understand where people are comming from when they percive the MC as a bit unlikable and/or feel that the choices are somewhat unrealistic given that Ren is the walking, talking embodiment of a restraining order waiting to happen.
But personally I have to hardly disagree with that. For me everything worked very well inside the games own universe and I feel that trying for a more pragmatic or subtle approach would robb the game of a lot of charme and fun. I mean I get enough reality in reality, I donĀ“t need all that much reality in my games tbh. I also disagree that every MC has to be as neutral as possible so they could function as a propper self insert. I played through so many games where the MC is as opposite of me as it gets and still managed to get entertained but the least fun where always the ones that tried to be as neutral and characterless as possible, so please let her have some personality.

I played the visual novel and it definitively is my favorite thing ever now! It is such a serotonin boost, from the artstyle to the aesthetic, also had a blast reading the curious cat, can't wait to keep playing :DDD
when i first opened the game, i was amazed at how good it looked. the whole ui as well as the art looks AMAZING!! all the effects and the entire set up just thoroughly impressed me. i'm so excited to see how this will turn out, esp since i went down the route of "get out of my life, don't talk to me". ren's cute and i'm struggling to resist knowing that he's, well, a yandere. i can't wait for more!

Okay, wow. Just finished the demo and what a ride that was! I'm loving Ren so far! He tries so hard to appeal to the MC's fancies that you can't even tell when he's being genuine or not. He's so infatuated that he even gets upset when Violet and Elanor get near us. Can't wait to see how far he'll go once the other love interests have been implemented.
After all.. Jealousy is an ugly beast.

for real though i loved renās personality and how you can never know if he's being honest and genuinely cute or just trying to win you over :'D also in some scenes he's somewhat dominant but not rude and that's the perfect balance to avoid making him plain annoying. it's hard to write a compelling yandere but ren seems to be a 10/10 so far!
and HELLOO the segment where you text/call him and hear his footsteps outside ur room was soooo creepy without the need to show anything explicit omggg I LOVED IT we need more scenes like that one š
edit: i've been reading some comments regarding the MC and i'd like to say that i personally like their sort of "judgy" personality (i wouldn't even consider it that depending on how you act and the choices you make, since 2 comments don't define a whole personality) because it makes them seem more human to me. most of the otomes i've played had this sweet, compassionate and understanding MC who hardly complained or acted recklessly, and for me it's more realistic to maybe misjudge someone you don't fully know because of prejudices/fear, or to come off as rude when you don't intend to because you had a bad day, than to be constantly smiling and replying in a sweet manner, especially considering someone broke into your house and your mood mustn't be extremely positive. like, there's this weird dude who is constantly staring at you, seems to fake his cute mannerisms and blurts out remarks that are out of line or very specific info that you never shared. ofc it's realistic to be like 'wtf leave me alone weirdo?' even if you don't completely know him or why he acts that way. maybe he's just extremely socially awkward but has good intentions. maybe not. it would be bad if the MC was judgy ALL the time or sweet ALL the time, but i didn't get that impression while playing the demo. (also we need more MCs who are kinda weirded out by the creepy obsessive behavior but still attracted and dominant towards the yandere, so i welcome every "unpleasant" personality thank u very much)
Yeah, same here! I agree with mostly everything that you are saying. So far, MC feels the most unique to every other MC, most human like, and I absolutly love it.
The only thing is I, personally, really donāt want to be ādominatingā Ren. I am only into the other way around (the soft dom energy from Ren is all I need in life :P)
But I hope for people like me and you there would an option to be as intimate with Ren as we want, to fit both of our separate preferences š

So Ren has two sides to him: his "Haruko" side and his "True" side. The creator has said that his "Haruko" side is much more attentive and submissive while his "True" side is much more assured and dominant. So essentially you can get "the best of both worlds" with Ren depending on which side he shows XD The creator has also mentioned that the game will mainly involve Ren being the one to top/dom the MC, but there will eventually be one optional scene (for now) where the MC can be the one to top/dom Ren instead :D
They've also talked about adding the option to choose between being the top/bottom (instead of having the one optional scene mentioned before), but they haven't implemented this idea yet because other game-related things need their attention.
TBH I'm so glad the creator decided to do this (and for free too?!), especially since the 18+ scene is completely optional/skippable. I personally like domming Ren (and whiney men in general) but having the option to switch the roles is very nice to have XD
