Someone has already answered your question (thank you for that!), but for further clarification: you get to pick and customise your own gender, pronouns, genitalia (if you enable the 18+ scenes), and how the characters perceive you in the game.

Since 14DWY is an offline game and doesn't use Wi-Fi, I have no way of pushing update pings or files to those who download it. So you'll unfortunately have to keep checking Itch to see if there's been an update ^^; Sorry!
Also... Discord does get early access to 14DWY builds, updates, and devlogs (since folks often spend money to boost the server or donate to my Ko-Fi, and I feel bad gsjhgs). However, it all gets cross-posted on Itch, Tumblr, and Twitter after a certain amount of time. So you don't need to join if you don't want to!
Are you talking about the black screens? If so, that's intentional. There's only one 18+ CG that you can get during Day 1. The remaining scenes don't have any.
By default, the 18+ scenes are locked behind sleeping with Ren in Day 1. If you don't sleep with him, you won't be able to view the remaining 18+ scenes. But if you choose the "Show all 18+ scenes" option, you'll be able to view all the 18+ scenes without needing to sleep with Ren in Day 1.
totally understandable!! however we players don’t know that or which choices lead to actual events, which is what makes it fun too! i save soo constantly so it’d be awesome to have more saves bcz of this :D

Guys, i have really been struggling with how to enter the actual game. After that Login screen, where you put your name and prefered gender, i never know which key to press to get into the actual game. Sometimes it just works out but i never know what the trigger is, pls answer T-T

Do i have to delete it in order to play, because i think i saw someone say to delete it in order to play day 5... IM SO CONFUSED ToT
If possible, please provide screenshots so I can better understand your issue. I'm not exactly sure why there wouldn't be an arrow to take you back to the character screen or advance the game.
And yes, if you have older save files, you'll need to delete them (since most of the time, they're not compatible with the latest update).

Has anyone figured out what type of cipher is used in the dead end scene? It's a few screens of jumbled letters that look like Ceasar cipher, but it doesn't seem to map to any key.
I am not confident with these but here's some rough translations:

you need renpy plugin and yes just download the file from here directly, extract it then add the game in joiplay. you can use either .exe or .py to run the game

in the game do you play as a female or male?
you can select it, or choose to be androgynous (it's fully customizable)

Why when I turned on the function "Show all 18+ scenes", I still had a black eye, how to fix it...😭😭😭😭

what secret ending are you talking about?
Are you talking about the Dead Ends? Or the "secret" CG you can get in Day 5? If it's the latter, there's a guide mentioned in the "Day 5 Update" log.
It's sad to see my save files being deleted and not getting the "U returned / ur back" text but im so happy that day 5 is out!!

Are you playing the Day 5 update? There's an option to unlock all the 18+ scenes during the character creation screen.
